Answers to common Mercedes-Benz 560SL questions

Q: Car dies after a few minutes

There is a high possibility that your fuel injection unit "CFI" is malfunctioning. That is a common problem on your vehicle. If you would like help with this issue, consider YourMechanic, as a certified technician will be able to visit...
Q: Car starts with difficulty, ABS and O2 sensor lights on
Answered by Jay
Hello. The hard start and O2 sensor light can be due to the fuel control distributor leaking excessive amounts of fuel from the air control door. Some leakage is normal but less that 22cc of fuel and anymore than this...
Q: Car cannot accelerate past 20 mph - 1988 Mercedes Benz 560SL

Q: where is the thermostat
Answered by Jeff
Your thermostat is located in the front of the engine right next to the distributor just above the water pump. I would recommend having an expert from YourMechanic come to your home to -diagnose and replace your thermostat (https://www.yourmechanic.com/services/thermostat-replacement).

Trusted by thousands of happy car owners

I can't say enough about how pleased I am that I found YourMechanic and Raul. I'm from out of town and didn't know who to contact to fix a truck I was borrowing. I searched the web and found YourMechanic.....thank goodness. I found Raul to be professional, an outstanding mechanic and the price was more than fair.

Ben was great. He arrived early, completed the work quickly & cleanly, and was quite amiable. I didn't have to leave my home and got the maintenance completely with ease - 5 stars.

Stephen was very professional and spoke to me in terms that I understood. Although the news about the car was not great, he explained the why's and what it would take to fix it. I will call on him again. Many thanks!
