Hello so I’ve taken my vehicle to my local dealership who could not do anything but believes my transmission is going out due to my car shaking. However, I’ve had the car brand new for 6 years now and it has always done this. I own a 2015 Chevy Malibu Ltz turbo and I’ve been on top of my maintenance very well. I recently replaced the battery last year but I have not gotten a transmission flush because the dealership recommended I not and my spark plugs nor coil pack have ever been replaced and I’m at 107-108k miles. My car does not just shut down once I reach a certain speed, while on the interstate yesterday I was just fine but on my way home from work going through town in a stop start environment the signal came back on and my car started shaking and the stabilitrak came back on and my car did not want to go past 40 but eventually did and then was fine until the next stop light. Would this be my spark plugs and coil pack or would this be a whole new transmission? Mechanic's Assistant: Have you checked the battery, particularly the terminal connections? Are they corroded? I don’t think so Mechanic's Assistant: Are you fixing your Malibu yourself? What have you tried so far? Ive tried taking it to my local dealership. I do not know enough about cars to fix it on my own.

Ok, when it is shaking, does it only shake while accelerating or does it also shake while stopped at say a traffic light or stop sign?

Only while accelerating but if I'm not in traffic I did not have this issue like highway 70-80mph but on my way back I was in stop start city traffic and every time I would stop Like people slamming on breaks for no reason that's when it triggered it and then I had a bad shaking trying to accelerate back to 45 but gradually it would go and then no shake then I'd have to stop again and start all over25-40 is typically when I would always have a shake but that had been since I got the vehicle and I've been the only owner got it brand new off the lot.

HI, Ok, the symptoms point to the transmission torque converter shuddering. I would recommend have the transmission fluid flush and new fluid with a shudder additive added. If the shaking either stops or lessens, it is the torque converter. The additive is a short term solution and will start getting worse again, so the permanent solution would be to replace the torque converter. This will run around $1200 parts and labor Thanks for using Just Answer and letting me help you. I hope I provided what you needed. If you find more help is still needed, let me know by listing out any remaining questions you have on this concern. I hope the remainder of your day is well.

Thank you, \*\*\*\*\* \*\*\*\*\* recommend me taking it another place? I've tried the GM dealership as well as the Chevrolet dealership who told me don't get the flush because I would just have to get new transmission fluid anyway yet when they did the diagnostic on my vehicle they showed nothing wrong with the transmission or evidence that my stabilitrak keeps coming on and off.New transmission fluid because I need a new transmission\*I find it a very hasty decision when I never had any issues prior and the shaking had been for 6 years and I've asked numerous times to check the transmission yet they could never "recreate" the issue.

HI Yes, I would take it to an independent shop. New transmission fluid as that will get rid of any impurities in the fluid from the natural wear of the transmission components and will help the additive to be more effective

Great thank you so much!

Hi. My car sounds like someone gurgling water when driving up a hill. What could be the cause? &cracking sound when turning wheels
The "cracking" sound you mention when doing sharp, low-speed turns is likely a constant velocity joint on one or both of the front axles. These joint transfer power from the engine to the wheels. The joints are somewhat sensitive to...
