Q: 4hi intermittently won't engage.

asked by on December 23, 2016

It is a electronic unit, with auto 4, 2, 4hi, 4 lo. Sometimes when I press the 4hi button the light comes on, it sounds like the actuator moves, but then the front wheels don't spin with the rear. 4lo works just fine, only the 4hi and auto 4 are the problem. It is an intermittent problem sometimes it is just fine.

My car has 180000 miles.
My car has an automatic transmission.

What you are describing sounds like a wheel bearing (https://www.yourmechanic.com/services/wheel-bearings-replacement) that may be starting to fail. A wheel bearing will usually fail due to pitting or small damage on the surface of the rollers or the bearing race. Both the...
Chrysler Pacifica gauges go haywire - I'm told it's an "actuator valve" problem.
The electrical issues are likely caused by a faulty Body Control Module (BCM) and/or a deficient circuit ground and Controller Area Network connections to the PCM and other modules. You principally have an electrical problem and that should be resolved...
