Vaughan was thorough and quick, clearly explained (and showed me) what was going wrong in the engine. He was able to recommend what parts I would need, and helped me parse out which parts were absolutely essential and which would be nice to have if I was looking for longevity. He stayed even though it began to rain a bit into the appointment. I appreciated his help and insight.

Answers to common Pontiac Laurentian questions

Q: Changed brakes and rotors now the emergency brakes is squeaking when driving. What could be wrong?
Answered by Jeff
Hey there. As you may know, your emergency brake is operated and controlled by a separate drum brake assembly (https://www.yourmechanic.com/services/brake-drum-replacement) located behind the rear disc brakes. The emergency brake is operated by a drum brake set up with brake shoes...
Q: Charging battery failure
Answered by Norman
Hi there. It sounds like the serpentine belt may have slipped off or be broken. A visual inspection of the belt area will determine if it is indeed off the pulleys. If the belt is slipped/broken, then there is the...
Q: Seatbelt and airbag lights come on but go off after car warms up
Answered by Robert
Hello. The seat belt warning light will come on with the Air Bag Light if the seat belt receptacle sensor is not working. Most of the time, the sensor in the female end of the seat belt fails and causes...
Q: I have issues with my radiator and radiator fan assembly.
Answered by Richard
You are correct in thinking that the combination of leaking radiator (https://www.yourmechanic.com/article/is-it-safe-to-drive-with-a-radiator-leak) and non-functioning cooling fan (https://www.yourmechanic.com/article/symptoms-of-a-bad-or-failing-cooling-radiator-fan-motor) is contributing to your overheating issue. Generally, modern radiators are not repairable and will need to be replaced entirely. The cooling fans can...

Trusted by thousands of happy car owners

I have to be honest, this was the first time that, I have EVER felt 'at-ease' around an auto mechanic. Jonas was thorough and straight forward with me about the issues; gave me a quote directly after doing the diagnostics on the car and, as it turned out, it cost me less than the original estimate. When does that ever happen with auto repairs ?? He was friendly, informative and knowledgeable. You folks made the whole experience convenient and painless. I'm "sold" on the "Your Mechanic" concept. I'll probably never take my car again to a traditional mechanic !! Jonas was a pleasure to deal with !

Stephen was very professional and spoke to me in terms that I understood. Although the news about the car was not great, he explained the why's and what it would take to fix it. I will call on him again. Many thanks!

I can't say enough about how pleased I am that I found YourMechanic and Raul. I'm from out of town and didn't know who to contact to fix a truck I was borrowing. I searched the web and found YourMechanic.....thank goodness. I found Raul to be professional, an outstanding mechanic and the price was more than fair.
