Q: Hood not closing or locking

asked by on

The hood won't close and it won't lock.

This can happen with the Vibes; the hood latch will rust under the plastic cover, and seize up. Often, removing the cover and lubricating the latch mechanism will solve this issue. If not, the hood latch assembly will need to be replaced. You may want the help of a mechanic, such as one from YourMechanic, who will be able to access the situation, lubricate your hood hinge and recommend a course of repair.
