The esc light came on and it felt like I was losing power Mechanic's Assistant: Just to clarify, what are the exact lights you're talking about? Epc,sorry Mechanic's Assistant: What is the make/model/year of your car? 2016 volkswagen passat Mechanic's Assistant: Are you fixing your Passat yourself? What have you tried so far? My phone charger went out and I moved a fuse and thats when it all started Mechanic's Assistant: Anything else you want the Mechanic to know before I connect you? It was working fine until I moved the fuse and put it back in

Hello, my name is \*\*\*\*\* \*\*\*\*\* I will be helping you with your question today. I've been working on VWs for over 30 years now, so I should be able to help you through this. Please understand that some of my suggestions may require special diagnostic tools and equipment that many home mechanics may not have, but are often required. So, my first question is whether you're planning on performing your own repairs, or are you wanting to be armed with information before bringing it into your mechanic? **Also, the site automatically prompts for a phone call. It's very rare that I'm available by phone, so let's hold off on that for now. If needed after we exchange some information, I will do my best to take the time for the call.** Couple of other questions: 1) this happened immediately after you removed a fuse? 2) why was the fuse removed? 3) do you have a VIN available please? 4) you will need a VW scan tool in most cases to scan the EPC fault. Do you have this available? 5) would you like information about exactly what the EPC system is?

I took the fuse out to replace the phone charger and put it in the incorrect spot. Then figured out the correct spot it was in. Then the epc light came on and it felt like I was losing power

Yeah, that's because the EPC system is the electronic throttle control on your car. I can post a really detailed explanation of how it works, but I don't think that's going to help you right now.

Since I haven't heard back, I can only offer general information about the EPC system in your car. If you still need help, please respond here, and hopefully you have some fault codes. 1. **EPC** stands for Electronic Power Control. This is the drive by wire throttle system used in Audi Lamborghini and VW gasoline models starting around the 2001 m.y. 2. How the system works: A. 2 position sensors located on the accelerator pedal (Throttle Position (TP) Sensor G79 and Sender 2 for Accelerator Pedal Position G185) transmit driver demand (intent) to the Engine Control Module (ECM). i. The G185 signal is always 1/2 of the G79 signal for plausibility testing. B. The ECM interprets the signals from the G79 and G185 sensors along with signals from other systems (engine, ABS, AC, transmission) to determine the output power sent to the Throttle Valve Control Module J338. C. The Throttle Valve Control Module J338 receives the power from the ECM and moves accordingly. There are 2 position sensors on the J338 module (Angle Sensor 1 for Throttle Drive G187 and Angle Sensor 2 for Throttle Drive G188) that provide feedback to the ECM on the current position of the throttle plate. i. The two sensors sweep in opposite directions for plausibility testing (i.e. one goes from 0.5 V up to 4.5 V while the other goes from 4.5 V down to 0.5 V). If the voltage of the two sensors is added together, it should equal the reference voltage into the sensors. 3. Major inputs to the calculation for the **EPC** system are: - Throttle Position (TP) Sensor G79 - Sender 2 for Accelerator Pedal Position G185 - Throttle Valve Control Module J338 - Angle Sensor 1 for Throttle Drive G187 - Angle Sensor 2 for Throttle Drive G188 - Brake Light Switch F - Mass Air Flow (MAF) Sensor G70 4. Any fault codes or situations that can affect how the throttle body is controlled or will respond can cause the **EPC** light to illuminate. 5. In a Key On Engine Off (KOEO) situation, the throttle plate should respond according to the accelerator pedal. (i.e. if the accelerator pedal is depressed 1/2 way, the throttle plate should open 1/2 way.) 6. If the engine is running, the ECM calculates the opening of the throttle plate based on multiple inputs (see step 2B).

Bad radio in this truck, is there an easy fix?
Greetings! Thank you for writing in with this question. This is a well-known problem for 2009 and 2010 Tacoma models. Toyota released Technical Service Bulletin (TSB) 0238-09 that deals specifically with this problem. While the TSB calls for replacement of...
Truck stalled and won't turn over.
This sounds to me like a classic fuel pump failure, I would have a certified mechanic inspect (https://www.yourmechanic.com/services/car-is-stalling-inspection) your fuel pressure. If the fuel pump is fine, check for voltage at the fuel pump relay. If these aren't the problem...
Engine knocking, oil light on, engine quit
If you ran the engine out of oil until the engine quit or locked up, then you tried to add oil after the damage was already done. The engine bearings will need oil to work properly, and when you ran...
The gear shiter is stuck in park I have to manually shift it and the brake lights don't work.
Hi, thanks for writing in. There are several causes for the symptoms you are having. First, if you need to unlock the shifter, there is an override button you can use to unlock it. It will be a small slot...
Electrical power drops out completely while driving.
A faulted automatic shutdown relay or asd relay is a common concern on your vehicle model and can show the same symptoms. I have seen this problem caused by the relay as well as corrosion inside the under hood fuse...
Vauxhall insignia se nav 2.0 cdti - interference or non interference engine
Hi there. Yes the engine is an interference design. This means that if the timing belt breaks the pistons will contact the valve train when not in time. If the belt has broken, I recommend testing the cylinder head and...
The steering wheel is stuck in the locked position.
Hi there. Try turning the steering wheel left and right and turning the ignition key to the 'ON' position. With a good tug, the ignition should turn and the steering wheel will free up. If the steering wheel does not...
