Q: My 2000 oldsmobile intrigue is shifting hard at semi high rpm and won't go into fourth gear

asked by on August 03, 2017

My 2000 oldsmobile intrigue is shifting hard at semi high rpm and won't go into fourth gear. Service codes call for replacing the crankshaft sensor and the input speed sensor. I checked the TSB and they said it could be a bad ground or wire. I have been unable to locate the input speed sensor. I am aware that this year of vehicle has non hardened fourth gear shaft and that it may be the problem. Would like to check the small stuff first. Thank you.

My car has 159300 miles.

My car cuts off when I slow down and shows code P0335
Hi there. Your vehicle shutting down while driving, after replacing a faulty CKP (crankshaft position sensor) and the ECM (engine control module) recognizing a P0335 circuit malfunction, leads me to believe the replacement CKP sensor may be faulty (https://www.yourmechanic.com/services/crankshaft-position-sensor-replacement). Why would car shake when accelerating
Hello, Generally, shaking during acceleration relates to an issue of low transmission fluid or transmission fluid (https://www.yourmechanic.com/services/transmission-fluid-service) that needs to be changed. Every time a gear change is required, the car's computer activates a transmission solenoid, which directs transmission fluid...
There's a lawn mower sound coming from my engine when I'm driving
The noise could be due to an exhaust leak although it is also possible that a failed wheel bearing could cause enough "rumbling" to sound really loud. If you request a vehicle noise diagnostic (https://www.yourmechanic.com/services/car-is-making-a-noise-inspection) the origin of the noise...

Hi there. In most cases, a problem like this is caused by an error code that is stored in the ECU. It can be cleared by having a professional mobile mechanic complete a check engine light inspection (https://www.yourmechanic.com/services/check-engine-light-is-on-inspection), which should...
