I will try to help you on this here Do you also have a check engine light on with ABS light? What is the mileage on it ? 2wd or 4wd? what engine in it ? is the oil leak from valve covers, timing cover, rear main seal, front seal, oil pan? is it anywhere near ABS? has the truck ever been tuned up , plugs & coils? Do you have a test light to check for spark and a fuel pressure tester to check for fuel pressure? did you look under the hood, any loose vacuum leaks? **Please Let Me Know** **Thank You** **Chad Farhat** **ASE Certified Technician**

My check engine light has been on for years but the abs only came on yesterday its 4x4 and I think it's the rear main seal I'm not 100% sure but I haven't done a tune up on it in 3 years. 2 or 3 times a year the truck will randomly shut down going down the road but if u wait and sit a few minutes it acts just fine

The ABS module or if any of the ABS wheel speed sensors lose communication with the ABS module,it will go in limp mode, where it can not see the speed signal and make it shift funny and stall But you also could have developed a misfire, needs a plug , coils or fuel injector nit spraying TB body plate , MAF sensor, all these things wil give you that condition you need to start by taking to maybe auto one or advance auto and have it scanned and see what are the codes for check engine light and ABS light and based on these codes you can know what to repair or replace good, when you get codes let me know what they are and what engine Size you have in it ?

P0301,, P0420, P0430, P0455, P031, it's a v8

ok thank you for info The )301 is the lowest # fault code : Misfire on cyl #1 Please read below the most possible causes for code P0301 & P0420 , the P0301 code can be triggering the other fault code,so you start with p0301 The P0420,P0430, P0455 all these are related catalytic converter,so most likely these codes have been there , since check engine light been on ,at 198 k ,the catalytic converter is at best now weak ,and when you have a misfire in it , that make cats ruin quicker 2010 GMC Truck Savana 1500 RWD V8-5.3L P0301 - - - - [Vehicle](https://my.alldata.com/repair/#/repair/vehicle/47894) - Probable Cause - P0301 P0301 DTC P0301 Symptom Descriptor Probable Causes 1-Accessory Drive Component or Belt Damaged 2-Crankshaft Position (CKP) Sensor System Variation Learn 3-Drive Shaft UnbalancedEngine Mechanical Condition 4-Exhaust Flow RestrictedFuel Contaminated 5-Fuel Injector Harness Connectors Connected to Wrong Fuel Injectors 6-Fuel Injector Lean or RichFuel Pressure Incorrect 7-Reluctor Wheel Damaged 8-Spark Plug Fouled 9-Spark Plug Wire 2010 GMC Truck Savana 1500 RWD V8-5.3L P0420 - - - - [Vehicle](https://my.alldata.com/repair/#/repair/vehicle/47894) - Probable Cause - P0420 P0420 DTC P0420 Symptom Descriptor Probable Causes Catalyst Temporarily Degraded From High Sulfur Content FuelCatalytic ConverterCatalytic Converter DamagedCatalytic Converter RestrictedEngine MisfireEngine Oil or Coolant Consumption ExcessiveExhaust LeakExhaust System DamagedExhaust System Hardware Loose or MissingExhaust System RestrictedFuel Mixture LeanFuel Mixture RichHeated Oxygen Sensor (HO2S) LooseOxygen Sensor (O2S) or Wiring Harness Damaged

Okay thank you. Would that cause 8t not to start? It acts like it wants to turn over but it won't
Automotive Expert
what 8t means ?

34;It." My big thumb

I would pull spark plugs out and replace these at least at 198k if original, , check spark strength from coils, check the fuel pressure to be at 58 psi, so you are accurate on what to replace or repair and you are not guessing and end up throwing parts at it

Okay I'll try that thanks for your help
Automotive Expert
you are very welcome
