Answers to common GMC Sierra 3500 Classic questions

Q: Driver side front wheel locks up @ 20mph but will unlock after I reduce my speed.
Answered by Jeff
Hi there, thanks for writing in. I'd be happy to help. This is most likely either a dragging brake rotor (https://www.yourmechanic.com/article/symptoms-of-a-bad-or-failing-brake-rotor-disc), which can happen when the caliper piston gets hung up and pushes the brake pads against the rotor, or...
Q: Too much oil in air tube
Answered by Robert
Hello. Some oil in the intake is normal. If there is a lot of oil then there may be something wrong. I usually clean the PCV system (https://www.yourmechanic.com/article/symptoms-of-a-bad-or-failing-pcv-valve-hose) first to see if it is dirty and replace any worn parts....
Q: hard to start, spits, sputters when you give it gas.once engine warms up symptoms gets better, but still cant give full pedal (bogs) 2002 GMC Sierra 1500
Answered by David
Hi - I would put a fuel pressure gauge on the system, checking for low pressure. This could be a low fuel pressure (https://www.yourmechanic.com/question/is-my-fuel-pump-working) problem - due to a malfunctioning fuel pressure regulator, weak fuel pump or clogged fuel filter...

Trusted by thousands of happy car owners

Jason is knowledgable, reliable and friendly person. He took his time to explain things about my car. I highly recommend YourMechanic and Jason's service.

Kevin showed up ready to do his job and did just that. He showed me a couple important things on my vehicle I had overlooked and was nothing less than incredibly professional, knowledgeable, and informative. I would, without hesitation recommend him to anyone I know and would gladly use him again.

Stephen was very professional and spoke to me in terms that I understood. Although the news about the car was not great, he explained the why's and what it would take to fix it. I will call on him again. Many thanks!
