Answers to common GMC K25/K2500 Suburban questions

Q: Shift cable broken
Answered by Andrew
Unfortunately, the most common problem to that symptom is the automatic transmission needs replacing according to our database. I would recommend taking the car to a transmission specialist and have them look at the vehicle.
Q: Transfer case trouble
Answered by Jeff
The rolling while in park should not have anything to do with the transfer case as this is a separate piece of the drivetrain controlled by the transmission. There is a pawl on the end of the transmission shaft (assuming...
Q: high pitched squeal and the sound equivalent to stones rolling in a tin can (driver's side front wheel)
Answered by Tim
This sounds like a brake issue. The brake pads (https://www.yourmechanic.com/services/brake-pads-replacement) have a wear indicator that will make a squeal-type of noise when the pads have been worn down. The stone rolling noise could be debris in the wheel brake area....
Q: How much voltage go in to fuel pump, 4 cyl ? 1988 GMC S15
Answered by David
Hi there - virtually all automotive and light truck electrical systems run on 12 volt components these days. Your fuel pump will be 12 volts as well. Perhaps the question you are asking is how many amps the fuel pump...

Trusted by thousands of happy car owners

I have to be honest, this was the first time that, I have EVER felt 'at-ease' around an auto mechanic. Jonas was thorough and straight forward with me about the issues; gave me a quote directly after doing the diagnostics on the car and, as it turned out, it cost me less than the original estimate. When does that ever happen with auto repairs ?? He was friendly, informative and knowledgeable. You folks made the whole experience convenient and painless. I'm "sold" on the "Your Mechanic" concept. I'll probably never take my car again to a traditional mechanic !! Jonas was a pleasure to deal with !

Ben was great. He arrived early, completed the work quickly & cleanly, and was quite amiable. I didn't have to leave my home and got the maintenance completely with ease - 5 stars.

I can't say enough about how pleased I am that I found YourMechanic and Raul. I'm from out of town and didn't know who to contact to fix a truck I was borrowing. I searched the web and found YourMechanic.....thank goodness. I found Raul to be professional, an outstanding mechanic and the price was more than fair.
