Something is causing my car to overheat. Can you help me? I think a fuse or something needs to be replaced.

My car has 12065 miles.

This can be caused by a number of things such as low coolant levels, a faulty thermostat, a clogged radiator or a failing coolant fan switch. As you may know the coolant fan switch helps to maintain the proper coolant temperature by turning on and off at specific temperature thresholds. When this switch is not working properly, this can cause the fans to come on intermittently, all the time or sometimes not at all. When this happens you will notice a temperature spike and drop occasionally as the fan comes on and off. When your thermostat is not working properly or is stuck closed, this will not allow the coolant to properly circulate through the engine, which may cause the engine temperature to fluctuate erratically or in some cases just remain hot. I would suggest having an expert from Your Mechanic come to your home to diagnose your cooling system.

Hi - having changed the brake light switch (most common source of this problem) and confirmed that brake lights are now working (if not, check brake light wiring - switch does more than brake lights), the shift interlock solenoid (https://www.yourmechanic.com/article/symptoms-of-a-bad-or-failing-shift-interlock-solenoid)...
The negative post on battery wont let me connect it. It sparks and smokes unless you disconnect the wire from solenoid going from the battery to the starter.
Hi there. When the battery cable is hooked up and sparks with smoke, the question to ask your self is if the wire is getting hot. If the wire is getting hot, then the starter solenoid has melted the contacts...
Is the 2009 Sentra 2.0L a timing chain or timing belt? Also when would that need changing?

This kind of problem sounds like a loose or bad electrical connection to the dash cluster and radio. I would recommend starting and running the engine and go to wire harnesses you can get to under dash and engine compartment...
