Q: my 98 dodge 5.2 eng 4x4 is misfiring on cyl #,1 check eng light stays on. changed most everything on top of eng.

i bought a 98 dodge ram 1500 4x4 5.2 eng last summer from a customer of mine. it sat for 5 yrs before he sold it to me. he had rebuilt eng. before it sat 5 yrs. found out that he modified eng to 5.9 some what. has lift kit also. also said transmission had been redone to. had differential problems and we fixed that. the problem now is misfire cyl 1. we have replaced plugs, plug wires, coil pak, distributor cap, air filter, serpentine belt, changed all fluids. still having a misfire and engine soon light stays on and sometimes off. runs good but uses lots of GAS. misfires when at red light not when driving. the man i bought it from said it would be the timing and we have adjusted that as well EVEN PUT A FILTER IN THE VACUUM HOSE OFF THE MANIFOLD to keep the loud misfire so loud its embaressing. what now. also have squeeling in front of engine due to a guy sprayed some cleaner on my pulleys and belt. wont go way no matter what you do. need help. Mary
