Q: Lights on dash suddenly started flashing while driving, accompanied by car surging & stalling

asked by on May 17, 2016

My car heaved and at the same time, all my dashboard lights started blinking. Then all of it stopped and it drove normally. After the car had been parked for about an hour and I restarted it, the problems started again, and the car stalled. It restarted and hasn't done it in days, fortunately. What caused that and do you think it will happen again?

The vehicle may have a problem with the power relay in the central junction box that powers the ignition and computer on the car. The relays and connections to the junction box will need to be checked if the problem happens again. Contact a mechanic to scan for trouble codes, and try and duplicate the problem so a fix can be found.

What would make my check engine light come on this much?
Without specific information about your engine size and which engine codes have previously been reset, it is difficult to thoroughly diagnose the problem. Using the 3.6L engine as a reference, I found that this engine may have issues with random...

A few different parts can cause this problem. The throttle keeps sticking at average speeds

Both of these issues can make you feel the same symptoms as a sticking throttle. I would recommend having the throttle body and throttle position...

Backfiring from throttle bodies when under load. 1984 Chevrolet Corvette
Hello - backfiring (https://www.yourmechanic.com/question/car-backfiring-and-spitting) can be caused both by timing issues, as well as air leaks (unmetered air) into the intake. I would first have the timing set (https://www.yourmechanic.com/services/adjust-ignition-timing) to be sure it is correct - since there is some...
