Q: I have a 2007 Nissan Versa that is having a problem with the HVAC blower motor.

The car has a problem with the HVAC blower motor. It has gradually started to randomly not work. When it started occasionally I would start the car and it wouldn't work but after driving a short bit it would come on and work fine. Now it mostly doesn't work but will occasionally come on after driving or when I start the car. When it comes on you can hear it struggle at first and then after about 30 sec it blows at full speed on all settings & once it starts it runs perfectly until I shut the car off. The place I took it wanted $800 to fix it. I think they were trying to seriously gauge me. If they could take it apart and put back together for the $128 diagnosis and the part costs $200 at full retail from the Nissan dealer, how the heck do they get to $800. Even if you add the resistor it shouldn't add more than maybe $100 And.... since it comes on sometimes couldn't that indicate that the connector could be the problem & the motor could be repaired instead of replaced.
