Q: Heater fan comes on when engine is shut off. 2009 Mazda CX 9 AWD

asked by on March 22, 2018

The heater fan comes on when I turn off the engine. So far all I've done is pull the heater fuse to keep the battery from going dead. Is this a relay issue or heater module?

If you are referring to the blower motor in the passenger cabin, a faulty (stuck on) relay is a possible cause but the exact cause would have to be determined in a circuit trace. If the circuit is powered even when it is commanded off, you have to use a voltmeter to determine exactly where power is entering the circuit. You can start with the control switch. If the switch is off, the contacts should be open. If the switch checks out, basically you have to trace back from the blower to see where it is being mistakenly powered. For obvious reasons, it is not recommended to buy any parts until you know exactly what has failed. If you request an electrical circuit diagnostic/repair, the responding certified mechanic will get this diagnosed and resolved for you, right at your location. If you have further questions or concerns, do not hesitate to re-contact YourMechanic because we want you to make the most of your repair dollars and help you to get the best possible results.

My steering wheel is shaking
Just because the wheel has weights attached to it doesn't mean it is balanced correctly. My guess is that the wheels/tires are out of balance. However, the problem could also be worn steering/suspension parts or tires (https://www.yourmechanic.com/services/brakes-steering-and-suspension-inspection). A bent rim...
Malfunction indictor lamp comes on and car won't move
A few different things have the potential to cause the transmission faults you have described. The most common would be a transmission position sensor (https://www.yourmechanic.com/article/symptoms-of-a-bad-or-failing-transmission-position-sensor-switch)/range switch, neutral safety switch (https://www.yourmechanic.com/article/symptoms-of-a-bad-or-failing-neutral-safety-switch), shift solenoid, low fluid level, or the transmission itself. I'd...
Rpm not increasing
Without additional information regarding symptoms, this would be very difficult to diagnose. It's not very clear what is happening in this situation. Is the RPM not increasing during idle (https://www.yourmechanic.com/services/car-idle-is-rough-inspection)? is the tachometer (https://www.yourmechanic.com/article/3-essential-things-to-know-about-your-car-s-tachometer) not increasing as your car moves?...
