Is it bright red, or is it dirty? Transmission fluid fine had to change it every time I drop the pan once was for the filter and once was for the solenoids and I did it again just to make sure I didn't have any debris in it Mechanic's Assistant: Are you fixing your GMC 3500 yourself? What have you tried so far? Yes I'm fixing it myself like I said won't shift out of first change the TCM change both shift solenoids new filter transmission fluid brand new Mechanic's Assistant: Anything else you want the Mechanic to know before I connect you? Good morning There is a governor on the driver's side of the transmission that regulates shifting. It is a common failure as the plastic gear on the end of the governor dishes and does not spin enough to to change the throttle pressure. I attached the procedure and a picture for you. Roy 1. Raise and support vehicle. 2. Remove [governor](https://my.alldata.com/repair/#/repair/vehicle/20891/component/1992/filter/) cover from [case](https://my.alldata.com/repair/#/repair/vehicle/20891/component/2314/filter/) using extreme care not to damage cover. If cover is damaged, it must be replaced. 3. Remove governor. 4. Reverse procedure to install and check fluid level.
