Howdy from Tennessee, I'm Chris aka Moose. Who am I helping today? I'm glad you've come here to get help. I will do my best to get the answer you are looking for. I help many customers, so sometimes my replies are delayed, I will respond once available. I try to be online at 1-5 pm and 10 pm-5 am every day. It is possible \both concerns are related. Have you checked to see if the belt is slipping, loose, or broken and gone? The alternator and power steering pump are both belt-driven accessories. If the belt is fine then we will needs some tools to diagnose with like a voltmeter and hydraulic pressure test gauge. Thank you for seeking us for help, I hope I provided what was needed. Press reply if you need to follow up. If you liked my answer please let me know so I can mark your question complete. Moose

The belt is fine
Automotive Expert
Great, do you have the tools I mentioned?

No
Automotive Expert
With no tools to test with you will not be able to determine if the concern is to blame on an alternator failure and or power steering pump failure. It may be best to let a shop handle the diagnostics and repairs so you are not guessing at which parts to replace.

The code P0455 (https://www.yourmechanic.com/article/p0455-obd-ii-trouble-code-system-gross-leak-evaporative-emission-by-john-nelson) is an indication that the fuel system cannot hold vapor pressure when it is put into testing. Exhaust leak from engine gasket right after catalytic converter keeps blowing out. What needs changing O2 sensor or converter ? 2000 Chevrolet S10
Hello - I suspect that either the flange joint after the converter has a defect (https://www.yourmechanic.com/question/-i-have-replaced-my-exhaust-manifold-a-half-dozen-times-why-is-this-happening-by-stephen-k) that continues to leak, despite new gaskets, or the muffler is stopped up, increasing exhaust pressure on that joint. I recommend an exhaust system...
