2003 Dodge [Ram 1500](/topics-ram-1500/) 5.9 250K miles. MAP symptoms, replaced MAP, runs better but same symptoms. Stalls, misfires, shuts down for a second or two. There is no MAF on this vehicle. Replaced gas and ran seafoam through tank. No obvious shorts or breaks. Mechanic's Assistant: Is the check engine light on? Does the Dodge stall at idle or when driving? No check engine light. stalls while city driving (low speeds) "stutters" at any speed. Very random, could go a while with nothing then does it several times in a row. Or sometimes just once. Mechanic's Assistant: Are you fixing your Ram 1500 yourself? What have you tried so far? Myself. Seafoam through tank, premium fuel, quarter tank at a time, several times. Changed the MAP this morning and the air cleaner. Mechanic's Assistant: Anything else you want the Mechanic to know before I connect you? Noting I can think of

Good AFternoon , Have you checked your fuel pressure ?

I have not. Idles and runs as it should. just get those stalls and hiccups. Can't get into a phone call, currently working. Looking for the next few steps of elimination for this issues
Automotive Expert
First thing i check on these with driveability issues is fuel pressure . These fuel pumps will act up for a while before they just stop working

I was afraid you'd say that. tank or bed? which is easier to take off in the driveway?
Automotive Expert
tank , with a floor jack and a friend its not that bad

I've been keeping the fuel level low in anticipation... Thanks

smart man

Quick question I did not think about earlier. Dumb one really... Does it matter that I did not unplug the [battery](/topics-battery-dodge/) while changing this sensor? It would reset the computer, correct?
Automotive Expert
no it doesn't matter

What others are asking

Multiple error codes.
Those codes are mostly for the transmission control module. I would have a technician come out and test fuses and check voltages and look for a shorted wire. It will probably be a 20 amp fuse for the ECM. (https://www.yourmechanic.com/services/ecm-power-relay-replacement)...
Water leak at front of car
Hi there. Water leaking into the vehicle accompanied with low coolant level points in the direction of a leaking heater core. The heater core is a device through which hot engine coolant flows. It's design is similar to the engine...
Gas pedal hard to press, car wouldn't move
The "stiff" gas pedal issue (https://www.yourmechanic.com/services/gas-pedal-is-stuck-inspection) is most likely caused by a dirty throttle body in the air intake system. Cleaning the throttle body (https://www.yourmechanic.com/services/clean-throttle-body) should relieve this symptom. The lack of "Drive" selection, unless first selecting "Reverse", could be...
My Ac in my car is blowing out hot air and its not the Ac coolant cause it if full
Hello. If the refrigerant is full then the problems is more than likely electrical or the compressor failed. I would check for power first at the compressor (https://www.yourmechanic.com/services/ac-compressor-replacement). If there is power then the compressor is bad. If there is...
Car is idling up and down while either parked or when driving.
Hi there. I believe O'reilly's sold you an IAC (idle air control valve) from the description you have given. OEM is the acronym for original equipment manufacturer. Seems odd that it was only fixed for a couple of hours. Sometimes...
Car won't shift into second and has transmission fluid leaking. Transmission is a 200R4.
Hello, this sounds like a problem with the governor, perhaps the governor spring to be specific. If the spring breaks, it will not allow the 1-2 shift. The fluid leak (https://www.yourmechanic.com/services/oil-fluid-leak-inspection) is likely not a big deal on its own...
When shifting into 1st gear and attempting to take off, car shakes and then stalls. Car also won't let me shift into reverse.
Hi there. Either the shifter rail is damaged inside the transmission keeping the gears from going into reverse and the first gear from connecting all the way, or the transmission first and reverse gears are damaged causing the transmission to...
My 2008 Kawasaki KFX 450R keeps having the fuel pump fuse blown even after we replaced it.
It is quite possible that during a jump, some of the wiring may have been jarred loose or potentially caused a grounding problem for the fuel pump resulting in the fuel pump fuse continuously popping when the current is not...
coolant low in my van
The coolant level is checked by looking at the plastic reservoir (overflow) tank. You should see a min. (minimum) and max. (maximum) levels marked on the reservoir. When the vehicle is stone cold, the level of coolant in the tank...
