Is it a free service? Mechanic's Assistant: It's just a small, refundable fee for a 7-day JustAnswer trial. After that, it's a small monthly membership fee. What is the make/model/year of your car? I do not want to pay anything for this answering serive Mechanic's Assistant: JustAnswer does require a modest payment. It's just a refundable fee for a 7-day JustAnswer trial. After that, it's a small monthly membership fee. Are you fixing your vehicle yourself? What have you tried so far? My battery gives 12.24v while the engine is off. Could this weak battery be a reason for my power steering problem (heavy steering wheel)? Mechanic's Assistant: How old is the battery? And have you tested it with a voltmeter? Don't know exactly how old that is (mechanic told about 2,5 years old last time). Yes, I tested with a multimeter Mechanic's Assistant: Anything else you want the Mechanic to know before I connect you? Voltmeter no just if the battery can be a reason for the power steering problem and if a battery change could help or not.

I’m very sorry that you’re having this issue and together, we will get this figured out. I will need your help too because I can’t see, touch, hear or smell anything that’s going on with your vehicle. We may also require some specialized testing tools in order to assist us in diagnosing the problems due to the complexity of today’s vehicles. JA will offer a phone call to you at an additional fee, it’s your choice. Please be patient with my replies, I reply back in question order received. If I send you an attachment, I will tell you, BUT, you will NOT get it on a phone; you must be on a tablet or PC. Please let me know when you are satisfied with my answers too so we can close out your question. Battery should read 12.6 volts and pass a load/specific gravity test. Thanks again and all the best:) Ron Please feel free to text me back if you need any more help. Yes for the steering issue too. Thanks again and be well:) Ron

I have red steering wheel light on with '!' symbol and heavy steering wheel. The batter gives 12.24v while the engine is off. Could this be the reason for power steering problem? Could a batter change solve the problem?
