Hello, this is Christina
Automotive Expert
Hello Christina. Nice to see you today! I'm sorry to hear you are having this problem. I know this can be frustrating. Please give me one moment to type out some information for you. Sit tight one minute. I'll be right back ! Thank you for holding Christina, If the engine overheated on your 2004 Scion, you do not want to add any coolant until you let the engine cool down. Let is set till you are able to place your hand on the radiator and it feels cool. Adding coolant to a hot engine can cause further damage.

I have let it sit for a couple of days it is fully cooked downCooled\*
Automotive Expert
Okay Christina if that is the case then you are fine to go ahead and add your coolant.

Once I add coolant how long should I let it sit before I restart it?how do I know I got the correct coolant? How much coolant do I put in?
Automotive Expert
You do not need to test it set at all once you add the coolant. The coolant should be the red/pink standard Toyota coolant.

Okay my car sill turn on but the engine won't. Should it turn back on after coolant or do I need to jump start it?
Automotive Expert
Being low on coolant is not going to keep it from starting. If the battery is dead then a jump is needed. If the battery is okay then this may be due to how hot you go the engine. If you got the engine extremely hot, it may be seized up on you, if jumping it does not get it started then you may want to see if the engine can be turned by hand with a socket and a breaker bar on the front of the crankshaft.

I overheated it. I will try that hand start.
Automotive Expert
Before you check to see if the engine will turn over by hand, make sure the battery is fully charged.

How do I check if it is fully charged?
Automotive Expert
The best way is to connect a voltmeter to it, you need to see right at 12 volts on a fully charged battery. If you do not have access to a voltmeter then the other option would be to remove it and take it to your local parts store and they can check and test it for you.

Okay that makes sense, thank you. What would be the best way to describe this issue so I may have someone come look at it and price points for fixing this issues?
Automotive Expert
I would explain that you got the car hot and it lost coolant and now ith the coolant topped off, it will not crank over. They are going to need to come to check it in order to know what is wrong and then they can give you an estimate of the cost if the repair needed.
