Q: Annoying starting and Idling issues

asked by on April 29, 2017

I have a 1995 Mitsubishi 3000GT SL with a manual transmission. I have a few problems that I would like resovled. First, the car starts but only sometimes or unless I give it gas while im turning the ignition. Ive changed the plugs and wires and coils brand new battery. Maybe the starter? Lost on this one. Second, once i get it started it sounds really rough (I noticed the flex pipe seemed busted) and doesn't keep its idle all the time. Put in a brand new idle air control valve, MAF sensor seems clean. I bought a new fuel filter and may buy a new fuel pump kit. My brother belives the filter is clogged and not enough gas is getting through. Any ideas guys or gals ? Thanks in advance much appreciated.

Hi there. This is usually either caused by a bad idle control valve (https://www.yourmechanic.com/services/idle-control-valve-replacement) or a vacuum leak (https://www.yourmechanic.com/article/is-it-safe-to-drive-with-a-vacuum-leak). The idle control valve is located near the throttle body. It can also be a dirty throttle body. I usually start...

How often should the front & rear differential be replaced.2006 Lexus RX330
Hello - this recommend seems unusual. As long as the lubricant level in the differentials (https://www.yourmechanic.com/question/differential-grinding-noise-by-alan) is of the correct type, and kept at recommend levels (i.e. no leaks), differentials should not be failing with this frequency. Off-roading or trailer...
