Q: Why Is My 2008 Kia Sportage Engine hesitating After Replacing the Battery?

asked by on March 19, 2017

Battery was very dirty and had a loose connection causing it not to start sometimes. Removed and cleaned the battery cables and posts and tighten cables down. Starts really well and fast now, But when I take it on the road it has severe hesitation, doing this every couple hundred feet. Read the computer had to relearn the idle speed, so I let it run in my driveway 20 mins then turned on air conditioning for 10 mins.and took it for another drive but it did not help. No engine lights show on dashboard why I am trying this. It starts and Idles at 2000 rpm for 1 min the drops down to around 900 with a nice and steady idle no misfiring. At a loss at what to do. It ran really well before this and still feel it has something to do with disconnecting battery and computer erasing previous information.

My car has 46506 miles.
