Q: Steering wheel hard to turn in 2002 Chrysler PT Cruiser

asked by on

My steering wheel is hard to turn left or right.

Hi there. If it is hard to turn in either direction, then it may have a bad power steering pump. I typically start by checking the engine belt and the fluid in the reservoir. If these items are fine then the pump is more than likely bad. I would typically replace the pump and flush all of the fluid from the system. If I could not tell for sure, I would test the pressure coming from the pump. If you need to have someone look at this, consider YourMechanic, as a certified mechanic can come to your home or office to diagnose your steering issue and make the necessary repairs.
