Q: right passenger door will not unlock, why?

asked by on

Right passenger front door will not unlock.

My car has 6000 miles.
My car has an automatic transmission.

Hello, thank you for writing in. Will the door unlock with the key, or manually from the inside? If not, then it may be having an issue with the locking mechanism. Accessing it manually is done from the inside of the door panel. If you can get it to work, you may want to try cleaning and lubricating before replacing the unit. If the door does unlock manually from the inside, or with the door lock cylinder, then you are having issues with the electrical connection to the lock actuator in that door. These systems are not terribly complicated if you do choose to chase down the issue with a voltmeter. You would be looking for where the voltage drops.
