My Nissan Navara, Its got a new battery but the battery light still is on and it only starts sometimes but will only stay on for a about 10secs and then completely stalls it. Do you think it could need the terminals replaced ? Mechanic's Assistant: Have you tested the battery? Have you tried testing the alternator? Battery is fine, no I haven't tested the alternator but I do have a new one coming in the mail Mechanic's Assistant: What year is your Navara? 2003 Mechanic's Assistant: Are you fixing your Navara yourself? What have you tried so far? My dad is fixing it, so far we have tried getting a new battery Mechanic's Assistant: Anything else you want the Mechanic to know before I connect you? That's all

Hi there do you have access to a multimeter? You would need to test the voltage at the battery with the engine running. It should be making between 13 to 14.5 V if it's any less than that the alternator is not charging the battery, and the alternator needs to be replaced.

I haven't got a multimeter, I have noticed that the terminal clamps are looking very black it that's bad?

very black as in burnt? Usually, the clamps corrode into white or a greenish/blue.

Like dark brown/black I have looked through the service book from the old car owners and the terminals have Not been checked since 2011

Ok, I'm thinking the terminals are ok here. You did say you are able to start the car which means that the terminals are making a connection to the battery at least sometimes. Are the terminals loose or do they look like they are falling apart? I leave a picture of the corrosion that terminals get. Sometimes people do spray them with an anti-corrosion spray that looks kinda brownish. Also, there is a test you could do with a multimeter to check for the connection of the clamps. I highly recommend you get a multimeter as it will be much help in diagnosing this and any future problems you may have with your car.

Car vibrating and shaking with the smell coming from the muffler
The awful smell your referring to is probably the catalytic converter being damaged (https://www.yourmechanic.com/article/symptoms-of-a-bad-or-failing-catalytic-converter). When there is a severe misfire, like what you're describing, the catalytic converter will deteriorate, resulting in a sulfur smell. Of course, the misfire will also...
Alternator not grounding on 2000 BMW 323Ci

Well the check engine light is blinking. A track light keeps coming on and there seems to be loss of power. Engine running rough.
Hello. If the check engine light is flashing then that typically means that there is a cylinder misfire. This can be caused by a bad spark plug, spark plug coil, or fuel injector. It can also be caused by something...
