I have a 2012 Nissan Altima four cylinder 2.5 it won't start the starter is good but the fuse box that is under the hood one side of the fuse box is not getting power and that's the side that connects to the starter Mechanic's Assistant: Have you checked the manual yet? Most vehicles have two fuse panels. No Mechanic's Assistant: Are you fixing your Altima yourself? What have you tried so far? We put a new starter in then we bypass the ignition and went straight to the starter and still nothing the start

Hey there, my name is Jake.Sorry your having issues, but thanks for reaching out. When you say no power to the starter, are you referring to the large wire or the small wire at the solenoid that doesn’t have power?

I bypass the ignition and went straight to the starter instead the starter power and I can hear the vindex clicking but it's not moving it all is not starting the carNo

Do you have a volt meter? Can you test for me or no?

On one side of the main fuse box under the hood where connect to the starter on that side there's no power
Automotive Expert
Ok, when attempting to start verify if you power at the small wire on the solenoid. If you hear the bendix I’d suspect so just verify and we will go from there
Automotive Expert
The main fusible links on the positive battery post power that. You need to look through the clear plastic (prolly filthy) and verify of any of those links are blown. If so the assembly is replaced as one piece (all 5 links)

There is no fuse in there blown

Wouldn’t make sense then that half the fuse box is missing power unless it was damaged or the 10mm nut loose. If you have power at the small solenoid wire though.ONLY a weak battery, bad starter, or froze engine really possible if the links are good

What 10mm notThe test light was red when we tested the small solenoid wireThe battery is new the starter is good and the is not frozeEngine
Automotive Expert
Not making sense.Test voltage at battery post then at large wire at starter

We did all thatOne side of the fuse box is dead if your faceing the car its the left side

Look, I’m not trying to sound rude but if you have power to the solenoid then all the starter needs is amperage which comes straight from the positive battery terminal.if there is sufficient amperage and the engine doesn’t crank, then the “new” starter is bad or the engine is froze.Of course you need a ground also, but still that’s easy to test

Driver's side window rolls down, but won't come back up.
There are a few possibilities as to why your window will not come back up. First could be a bad window switch. Next, would be a failure of the window regulator or motor. This issue is not uncommon. I would...
My Toyota Camry is knocking and ticking.
Ticking and knocking usually isn't a good thing. Does the speed of ticking increase with engine speed while sitting still? If so this means that it is coming from the engine. If the sound increase in speed on as the...
Car accelerating on its own
Hi. The first thing I would look towards is a problematic accelerator cable. I would recommend checking the accelerator cable for defects, kinks, and miss adjustments. If that is found to be the problem, have the accelerator cable replaced (https://www.yourmechanic.com/services/accelerator-cable-replacement)...
Noise under the driver's seat
First off, the first side of the car dropping down indicates a problem with the air suspension - most likely a failed air strut. As far as the noise goes, if it goes away with the belt off, the noise...
There is a humming coming from the front tire. I checked the tire for a possible wheel bearing issue but the vertical shake of tire was solid.
A tight feeling when shaking the tire vertically does not always completely rule out the wheel bearing (https://www.yourmechanic.com/services/wheel-bearings-replacement). A technician with a stethoscope or electronic hearing device can listen to the wheel as it is rolling and compare the type...
My car starts but it wont move when i put it in any gear
Hi There, It sounds like your car may be low on transmission fluid (https://www.yourmechanic.com/services/transmission-fluid-service) or the fluid may need to be changed. As you know, automatic transmissions use pressurized hydraulic fluid to change gears. Every time a gear change is...
Starts fine then after a minute or so starts to misfire.
Hi there. Check the oil pressure to the fuel injectors and see if the pressure is dropping. The injectors require the oil pressure to make them work and if the pressure is dropping, then the injectors will not fire. If...
I have a 08 Toyota voxy engine 3zr been having low idling, poor poor gas mileage, muffler burning black with slight black smoke help
Hi there. The scan might indicate that your primary O2 sensor is damaged, or the electrical harness that connects to the sensor is damaged. This would cause the symptoms you're describing in most cases. I would recommend having a professional...
2010 Subaru Forester power steering does not work, battery light is on, smell of rubber from engine compartment
It does indeed sound like your drive belt is broken. Your vehicle has two belts: one for the A/C and another for the power steering and alternator. Obviously, if the latter breaks, you no longer have power steering and your...
