Hi, my name is\*\*\*\*\* to justanswer. Lets see if we cant get you rolling again. Is the car constantly revving while you are parked with your foot off the gas pedal? **During this conversation you will be given an automated offer for a phone call from justanswer, not me. You may accept or decline that offer. I don’t personally offer this service so if you take this another tech may call. Thank you\*\***

no every time I turn but sometimes

So, if you turn the car off, let it sit a couple of minutes, and then restart it, does the engine still rev high?

It will re start straight away after I’ve put it in park but then when sitting with my foot on the brake it revs on its own, not high revs but you can hear the engine

Is your car equipped with a tachometer on the dash next to the speedometer?

I don’t know what that isI don’t think so
Automotive Expert
okay, thank you. Did this happen all of a sudden, or something that has been getting worse?

Been happening for about a month but it’s only started actually cutting out this week

Does it rev up while driving too?

Not while driving it seems normal while driving just when stopped, does it slightly when braking

It sound to me like some kind of vacuum leak somewhere on the motor or a failing Idle Air Control unit. I would suggest getting to your local repair shop to have some diagnostics performed before it gets worse and starts revving while you are driving.

Ok thank you
