Ok the cells in the vehicles battery are bad and they will not accept a jump or charge . You need to replace the vehicles battery first regardless and if there is still and issue then we can continue but the battery should take care for the issue. No thats not the correct battery you need a new fresh battery .

If the terminals are damaged so definitely replace those as well.

Can a Ford Explorer battery replace a Mercedes battery? I have someone that can replace it through their insurance but they have a Ford Explorer

I wouldn't chance it you need the exact battery it calls for as Mercedes are very finicky.

It needs to have the same exact specs or will not work. You can try but need to have the same specs and cold cranking amps.
