Can a cover be drill-mounted over the footrest on a 2021 Kia Soul EX? My left foot needs less COF. Thank you. I noticed that 2017-18 models allow drilling on the factory footrest. Mechanic's Assistant: Are you fixing your Soul yourself? What have you tried so far? No, and I haven't tried anything.

Hello and welcome to just answer. My name is \*\*\*\*\* \*\*\*\*\* I will assist you today. I am sorry you are having this issue, but hopefully I can help. Yes you can drill the foot rest and screw on a cover on the 2021. It is just plastic and will be fine drilling into it.

Thank you

Chris, please clarify one part to your answer (below). On the ’17-’18 Kia Soul it was okay to screw into the footrest metal under the plastic, but on the ’21 I’m not certain what, if anything, is in that footrest cavity to where drilling 4ea. 1/4-20 screws .38-50” deep into the metal is okay. I appreciate your expertise! DianeHello and welcome to just answer. My name is \*\*\*\*\* \*\*\*\*\* I will assist you today. I am sorry you are having this issue, but hopefully I can help. Diane I don't believe there is anything under that footrest, but just drill enough to penetrate through the plastic/metal and no more than 1/2 inch or less once the drill makes the hole. Chris

Chris, is there any way to be sure? I'd be happy to pay for someone to 'look' into the area.
Automotive Expert
Well, to be 100% sure, have the original foot rest removed, then drill it and reinstall it with your cover, and then reinstall the foot rest/cover assembly. Chris

Yikes, the footrest seems to be part of the body. Would Kia Soul specs list components within the cavity?
Automotive Expert
I don't think it is part of the body actually, but swing by your KIA dealer and ask the parts guys if they can pull up a picture of it. Chris

Thanks,I tried at a local Kia dealership, to no avail, but will ask the dealer where I purchased mine.
Automotive Expert
do that, then let me know what they say.Chris

Will do!
