Q: When should I get my tires changed?

When should I get my tires changed?

My car has 20000 miles.
My car has an automatic transmission.

Tires generally should not be left in service on a car for more than 10 years after the date of manufacture molded onto the tire sidewall. Once tires reach 4/32 inch of remaining tread depth, it is wise to start thinking about installing new ones and beginning the shopping process. Tires with 4/32 inch of tread or less will have lost a substantial amount of their former traction in wet weather driving conditions. Tires are rated by "Consumer Reports" and tires from brand name vendors such as Michelin are typically the highest rated. You can safely rely on "Consumer Reports’" recommendations as their tire testing program is extensive and long standing.
