That sounds like a misfire condition, do you have a check engine light on ?

It came on then went right back off a few times during the sputtering.

yes that would be a misfire, you can do a few things, you can pull codes and troubleshoot the cylinder or replace plugs and coils and see if that fixes it as well.

Ok? Is this something I can do myself with some instructions -say from YouTube or should I find someone that has some experience?

if you have never done it before I would recommend to have someone do it, but I dont know your skill level so its up to you and yes there are a ton of videos online that show you how to. you also want to get the right plugs and coils. ill be right back with the correct ones.
plugs for that are NGK zfr6f-11g and you want mopar or ngk coils

I know how to put gas in and oil but that's about it. I told my husband several times what it has been doing but he doesn't seem concern because his Silverado is running good.
