I went over a median but ended up still getting to my destination. Turned off the car, came back and put it in reverse and it wouldn’t drive but I could hear it revving Mechanic's Assistant: What is the make/model/year of your car? Honda Fit 2009 Mechanic's Assistant: Are you fixing your Fit yourself? What have you tried so far? Turning it on and off. Tried multiple times but I can’t fit under the car to see anything Mechanic's Assistant: Anything else you want the Mechanic to know before I connect you? No that’s all

Hello, and thanks for your question. My name is \*\*\*\*\* \*\*\*\*\* I will do all I can to help.

Hi, thanks Eddie.

What has most likely happened, is it has leaked the [transmission](/topics-transmission-honda/) fluid out, due to a cracked transmission line, a hole in the bottom of the transmission pan, or hopefully not, but possibly impact damage on the transmission case. So when the fluid leaks out, it will not have any engagement as it takes fluid pressure to engage the clutches in the transmission.

My only concern is we didn't see any transmission fluid leaking anywhere. My dad believes it's a problem with the linkage.Do you think it could be that?

Its possible, turn the key on, and tell me if the reverse lights work, or if PARK holds, and you can't roll it any, then I would say not the linkage. it's also possible it could have jarred one of the CV axles loose. Check the coolant and make sure the [radiator](/topics-radiator-honda/) is full. If it got the radiator and/or the transmission cooler in the radiator. That is where some of it could have went. Is the under carriage of the car completely dry? Thank you!

I had to leave the car to travel into another town with my family for Christmas so I'm currently not with it. I do believe the reverse lights had come on, my reverse camera also turned on. Everything else seemed fine except for the fact it wasn't moving. My dad also thought about the CV axles but again he couldn't fit under the car to actually take a look. And it is dry!
Automotive Expert
Alright, If it is dry, then I suspect its possible it's a [CV joint](/topics-cv-joint-honda/), but my other theory is that it leaked before it was parked, but if it is dry, then it may not have leaked anything. Make sure it holds in park, and you can't push it either direction in park, if you can push it in park, then we likely have a CV axle issue, but if you can't push it in park, the the axles are OK. If park works and you can't push the vehicle any, and it is dry, then in my opinion, the issue is still within the transmission. And I would get it to an independent shop or transmission shop for them to get it up on the lift and give it a good look. Thank you and let us know if you have any further questions.

Also, double check that you can roll it when you put it in Neutral with the engine off, to make sure park does in fact work, and it's not STUCK in Park no matter what position the gear stick is in which would indicate a shifter cable or linkage issue.

Okay thank you for your help! I'm definitely going to get it checked out on Monday. I'll be back at the vehicle tonight so I'll try to double check that. Thank you again.
