Q: Frequent RPM shift with AC on on Idle

asked by on May 10, 2017

I have an Ecosport and RPM shift quite frequently when car is in idle with AC on. There is vibration associated with it.

This is specially true on a hot day. RPM range between 780-960. RPM shift is only at idle with AC on. At times this shift happens every 5-7 seconds which is very irritating. I can feel some minor pick up jerks while driving. Very minute one though.

Ford engineer says it is within limit as variable AC compressor cut off RPM has a range of 180 RPM. They are not accepting it as an issue.

Here are videos of issue -

My main worry is cabin vibrations when this happens. Also, my understanding is this results in fuel efficiency drop as well.

I had this issue 2 years ago and they on my insistance changed Throttle Body. However, even then they said nothing wrong with the car.

They still maintaining the same. That car is fine.

My car has 30000 miles.
My car has a manual transmission.
