Thanks for those details.
I feel like the concern is to blame on internal engine damage, maybe a broken cooling fan blade, or a cracked flexplate. Since it occurs in park that rules out the wheels, axles, transfer case, and transmission. Since you can hear something thumping that would indicate something spinning is impacting something else.
