I just said it sitting in reverse a bit ago. I pressed the gas and the RPMs shoot up. But the speedometer and the vehicle do not move. I left it sitting in reverse for a short while and watched after pressing the gas and the car seemed like it was trying to move backwards but just little spurts of rockinghadI just had it sitting in reverse a bit ago. Ok sounds like the clutches in the transmission might be slipping. Have you checked the transmission fluid or for any leaks? Is there a check [engine](/topics-engine-ford/) light or any other lights?

There are no lights on. It seems like there are signs of oil near the engine like a seal might be near its end. But I have not checked the transmission fluid yetI've not seen direct signs of transmission leak

Ok that would be the next step low transmission fluid or deteriorated fluid will cause these same symptoms.
