Q: Engine swap 2005 Cadillac CTS 3.6l

asked by on

Since I have the 3.6L engine unfortunately blown but would I be able to downgrade to a 2.8 like a plug in & play into the car without any issues ??

My car has 168000 miles.
My car has an automatic transmission.

Hi there - while the 2.8 may bolt up, and the (automatic) transmission is the same, the electronic control software is different. Swapping engine and transmission controllers from the 2.8l into your CTS MAY allow a relatively smooth swap, but I would expect some challenges. Good luck with your swap!

This is a safety feature that tells you and any unwanted intruders that the car is armed with an alarm. This will not drain your battery as it is merely a warning light.
