Is the security light on or flashing? Have you checked the fuses? Have you checked for codes in the computer?

The dash has the anti theft flashing

Have you tried doing the security relearn procedure?

I can't seem to find the right one

Here it is, try this. 1. Turn ON the ignition, with the [engine](/topics-engine-chevy/) OFF. 2. Attempt to start the engine, then release the key to ON; the vehicle will not start. 3. Observe the SECURITY telltale; after approximately 10 minutes the telltale will turn OFF. 4. Turn OFF the ignition, and wait 5 seconds. 5. Repeat steps 1 through 4 two more times for a total of 3 cycles/30 minutes; the vehicle is now ready to relearn the Passlock Sensor Data Code and/or passwords on the next ignition switch transition from OFF to CRANK. Important: The vehicle learns the Passlock Sensor Data Code and/or password \*\*\*\*\* the next ignition switch transition from OFF to CRANK. You must turn the ignition OFF before attempting to start the vehicle. 6. Start the engine. The vehicle has now learned the Passlock Sensor Data Code and/or password.

If the problem continues even after doing a relearn procedure, you will likely need to replace the passlock sensor. It is located on the column or in the ignition lock cylinder. [I have uploaded a document for you on this page](http://www.engine-misfire.com/justanswer-downloads/). Click on your vehicle and it shows you where the passlock sensor is located. It is number 6 in the document. Feel free to download and save this document for your records. Of course, be sure all fuses are good and you may also want to check for codes in the computer using a compatible scan tool. Be sure to check for codes in the main engine computer as well as the body control module as the security system is wired directly to the body control module. It has been a pleasure working with you so far. Keep in mind this is a “starting point”. We can always continue as needed at a later date or at any time. Feel free to run some tests and reply back for further assistance as needed. Glad I can help. Please let me know if you have any further questions. Thanks and have a great day!

Hi there, thanks for writing in. Your particular car is very prone to complete transmission failure, so I would not personally attempt to make repairs to the transmission, as it likely won't fix the problem, or may act simply as...

Ran out of oil and car is making a tapping noise ?
Hi There, The lack of oil certainly can contribute to the tapping noise you hear which is likely metal on metal in the valve train area creating this sound. I would suggest having an expert from YourMechanic come to your...
How can I best research the cause of smelling burnt oil from under the hood after drives over 20 miles?
If oil from the engine compartment is vaporizing, due to high heat, or "burning", the source of the leak is typically near or onto the hot exhaust manifold(s). There is also a possibility of hydraulic fluid, such as power steering...
