Hello Mycia, Nice to see you today! I'm sorry to hear you are having this problem. I know this can be frustrating. Can you tell me what year, make and model your car is, please?

Thank you for the clarification, Please give me one moment to type out some information for you. Sit tight one minute. I'll be right back !

Ok perfect thanks
Automotive Expert
Thank you for holding Mycia, It is in fact normal for the engine RPM to be higher on start-up and usually once the engine is running it will slowly come down. It will also drop even lower once the transmission is shifted into gear. If you do not have any warning lights coming on including the check engine light then this does not sound like you have a problem and the engine is working as designed.

Thank you, \*\*\*\*\* \*\*\*\*\* if needed for any follow up on this Mycia.

I have a separate question so I took my car to get looked at They said I'm leaking power steering fluid because I was hearing some whiny noise but my wheel seems fine I turn perfectly fine and everything so how is that so
Automotive Expert
If in fact, the power steering fluid is leaking it will cause the pump to whine and it will still steer normally until at some points the fluid level gets to be too low. The fix for this is to locate and repair the power steering leak and refill the system.

what that require me to get a new power steering pump ? Or is it a cheaper and efficient way to go about it
Automotive Expert
If the pump is the source of the leak then yes, replacing the pump is the standard procedure to fix this type of leak. That being said, the source of the leak needs to be verified before replacing anything, it could also be a leaking hose and or the fitting to it.

Also there is a leak does that require me to get a new serpentine belt ?Ok I figured I just wanted to be cheap lol
Automotive Expert
The belt can usually be reused unless it is oil soaked from the leak.

Oh okay. Make sense. Thanks again. I don't have anymore questions. You were great and you have a pretty cool job lol. Enjoy your day.
Automotive Expert
You're very welcome, Mycia, Glad I could be of some help today! I hope everything works out well for you! If there are any additional questions on this issue that should arise, please feel free to reply and ask! Have a great day as well.
