Hi, my name is\*\*\*\*\*’ve been a technician on Just Answer since 2007 and I'll be helping you today. I'm sorry to hear you are having difficulties with your vehicle. I know how inconvenient car trouble is, but together, we will get your vehicle back up and running quickly. May I ask whom I am chatting with today? What's the make, model, and engine size of the vehicle please?

Hi Nick, it's nice to meet you. You said it has spark, but it won't run off starting fluid? Do you have any security lights on? It sounds like the timing may be off if it's got spark and won't fire. Also, have you checked for any codes?

what happened it ran fine one day then the next day it would just crank and wouldn't start

Can you answer any of the questions I sent please?

It had a evap system leak codemisfire cylinder 5The evap code has been on for a whileMisfire code was new i believe

Ok, was the engine running rough prior to the engine shutting down?

No

Ok I don't think the timing is an issue or you would have a code for the cam position sensor. I think you should take a look at the spark plugs and also check to make sure the spark is pulsating like it should. If it's only firing a couple times, it won't start off the starting fluid, then the spark isn't strong enough. Also, I assume you are spraying it directly into the throttle which is good too. Assuming the new pump is working, you seem to possibly not have injector pulse, but until it will fire off the starting fluid, we have to chase the spark. One thing to try after checking the plugs is to remove the upstream O2 sensors, then try to start it and see if it will run. I've seen times where a plugged catalytic converter will stop them from starting. Please check these ideas out and let me know.

Ok
