Ok. Have you checked for any fault codes with a scan tool, and what is the current voltage of the battery? thanks.

It's giving me low voltage but the current voltage of the battery is 12.75It was at 13 but I plugged it up in to the car so and try to start a couple times so it lost some of the voltage
Automotive Expert
Ok. So, it will not crank, is that correct?

Correct

Is this the 6 cylinder or V8?

Automotive Expert
Ok. There was no V6, so I am guessing it is the 3.0 inline 6.

Under the left kick panel, there is this module. This is the immobilizer module. Pin#1 has a black wire. Disconnect the module, and provide power (12v) to this pin. If the engine cranks, then you have a security issue, trans position issue, or ignition switch issue. If it does not crank, and the battery and connections are ok, it needs a starter. Normally, I would have you jump it at the starter itself, but on these they are under the intake manifold and hard to reach. Hope this helps, thank you.

Thank you I'll try that
Automotive Expert
Ok sounds good. Ill be here if you have any follow up questions. Sorry your having this issue with your X5, have a good evening.

That's under the hood correct
Automotive Expert
No, drivers side, next to where your left foot would be.

Thank you

Do I need to plug the rest of the module back in or just apply power to that one cord

it started to turn on but it wouldn't turn over I'm guessing because the battery wasn't strong enough but the alternator was moving everything was moving it just wasn't strong enough to make it turn all the way over I'm guessing
Automotive Expert
Ok. The battery needs to be tested.

How do I do thatBut it is the ignition switchJust tell me what I should do next and I'll do it however it won't be today because today's my birthday so I'm taking a day for myself however just give me a few scenarios to run through just in case one doesn't work you know so what should I do next and if that doesn't work what should I do after that if that doesn't work wish I drop that just run down the list and let me know

It’s imperative that your vehicle is equipped with the coolant, especially if you use the air conditioning. The ideal coolant mixture for your car is 50% water, and 50% ethylene glycol antifreeze.
