Please understand that I do not know your knowledge or capabilities, so I may need to ask questions to find out basic information to help solve your specific problem. Can you send me a picture of line and inside connector? If this is the quick disconnect type of Dodge fitting it should have a small clip that goes on fitting to hold line in.

It is putting in a transmisson it will not line up with torchconvertIt is putting in a transmission the torchconverter keep popping out it will not line up
Automotive Expert
Are you talking about a line keeps popping out of fitting or the transmission itself keeps coming off engine after it is aligned? I usually make sure the torque convertor and flywheel are positioned same before putting transmission up into vehicle. Sometimes will put a socket and breaker bar on front of engine and turn engine to get them to line up.

Get engine and transmission bolt holes aligned and put a few bolts in to hold transmission in place and turn engine until flywheel holes line up with torque convertor and then gradually tighten bolts on bell housing a little at a time evenly until torque convertor and transmission pulls in.

What size socket dose that call for

Is there anyting i can do to get that to line up so it will go smoothI have beem trying for 3 daysto get this lined upHello

If it's not mating up, something has to be misaligned. Is the transmission being replaced, or torque converter? It sounds like torque converter isn't fully installed and allowing transmission to mate up to the engine. If not able to cinch it down using a bolt on either side of the bellhousing, will need to make sure the correct parts are being used, and torque converter is fully seated on the pump hub. Lemme know what youre seeing, or if any questions come up while checking things out!

How would u know if the torchconverted is in place
Automotive Expert
It will be fully seated on the pump hub, and there wont be much clearance behind it to the pump. Should be able to feel the hub lugs of the pump engaged with the converter, and wont be able to slide it any further into the bellhousing. If it's popping out like youre saying, make sure you have the right converter for the transmission youre installing, and be sure it's the right transmission for the truck, if you got it from junkyard or aftermarket source. Lemme know what youre seeing, or if theres anything I can do to help, and thanks again for using JustAnswer.com!

It came out of a 98 dodge my truckis 97 dodge

Recommend double checking the part numbers of each transmission with the VIN of your truck with local dealer parts department, to make sure you received the right parts for the truck. Sometimes you run into fitment issues with used parts, if the scrap yard doesn't interchange them correctly. Lemme know if seeing different part numbers between the two transmissions, or if any questions come up while checking things out!

Let me explain to what happen we down the road it started slepping out of gear when we took out the trans it pored out pf the front sealcould it be the torch convert gone bad instead of the transmissionNo the linkage was badWhen it would sleep out of gear we turn off the truck and started it back up it would go into gear a little ways and the it would sleap out of gear againWe r trying to figure out if the trasnmission is bad or the torchconvert bad
Automotive Expert
It sounds like the transmission isn't correct for your truck, if it's not linking up with the original torque converter. Would double check the part numbers and make sure they got you the right transmission.

What happens when the linkage is bad or damage will it sleap out of gear
Automotive Expert
Look for heavy wear/damage on the torque converter shaft. If youre seeing heavy grooves on the shaft, replace the converter with correct parts and recheck the fitment. Sounds like the front pump seal may have failed, or torque converter is grooved and leaking fluid. If torque converter is still bolted up to the flexplate, recommend removing it and fully installing into the transmission, then fitting the transmission with converter installed to the engine. Lemme know how it goes, or if any questions come up while checking things out! If the shift linkage isn't adjusted correctly, or is worn, you may not be shifting into the correct gear. If you are fully in a gear, but the transmission is slipping, look for low fluid issues, low fluid pressure issues, or internal clutch/band failure.

If the torch is worn would it be on the shaft or on the inside the torch convertedWhen we started have this problem we stpp the fluid wS pouring out the front of transmissionWhat would cause that
Automotive Expert
Sounds like the front seal failed. Is the torque converter still bolted up to the engine? Did the new transmission come with a new converter? Were you able to verify correct part numbers?

No we took it out when transmission came outIt came with the trans ok the trans came out of my truck it has 96 modle dodge on the transmission but the transmission that we r putting in came out of a 98 dodge
Automotive Expert
If the converter fell out while taking the transmission out, it might be normal to see some fluid leakage. If fluid was pouring out of the front seal area while engine was running, then suspect the front seal had failed. Make sure new converter is fully seated into the transmission bellhousing, and if still not fully mating up to the engine, suspecting it's the wrong transmission for the truck and will need to swap it out for the right one.

Ok thank u so very much can we reach i at this mumber for how long
Automotive Expert
You bet, glad to help! Hoping it's just the wrong transmission for the truck and will be able to swap it out again pretty quick. If anything comes up, you can update this same message at anytime, and I'll get back to you asap! Thanks again for using JustAnswer.com!
