14 Kia Sorento we had the fuse blow on the battery. We are in route to get a replacement from the dealer. But in the mean time purchased the 150amp fuse to put on that was a little different we replaced the rear bulbs that were out but now if you turn on the headlights they work but if you turn on the blinker the whole right side lights headlights taillights etc stop working...help! Is it all going to be fixed with the dealership battery fuse, we checked all the fuses in the fuse box and they all work. Mechanic's Assistant: Have you checked the bulbs? Have you checked the connection? Yes Mechanic's Assistant: What year is your Sorento? 2014 Mechanic's Assistant: Are you fixing your Sorento yourself? What have you tried so far? Yes my fiancé owns a body shop we checked all connections in the lights themselves and the fuses Mechanic's Assistant: Anything else you want the Mechanic to know before I connect you? We had put a battery charger on the car to charge up the battery went back over to it and the battery charger won’t turn on and the fuse is shot on the battery. I believe these light problems happened after that

Hello, my name is \*\*\*\*\* \*\*\*\*\* to just answer! I will be assisting you with all of your vehicle questions today. Give me one moment while I review your question and I will be right back with your answer, or I may need some additional information from you about your vehicle. The site will ask for a phone call not me so please disregard that thanks! First question, why did the fuse blow in the first place?

I'm guessing it's because the battery charger was put on it because shortly after the battery charger won't turn on and the fuse was blown
Automotive Expert
Ok was it by any chance put on reversed this is what usually causes this and it can short out control units in the vehicle as well.

My fiancé has a body shop and he put it on. Ik last week I went to jump it and put it on in reverse (the wires going to the negative are red and positive is black on this car) and the horn beeped. Then I reversed them and it was fineHe put them on the right way
Automotive Expert
That's all it takes is that one quick second if it was put reversed. So you either shorted a control unit most likely in the BCM that's what's causing the issue. They fuse will not cause this. There will be a body code stored for the fault and for this problem. Let's hope it's nothing major. You can try to disconnect the battery for 5 minutes and reconnect it to see if the system resets but you most likey have other issues from jumping that battery backwards unfortunately.

We don't have any lights on the dash..but if I do a scan with the computer will it tell me?
Automotive Expert
You need to scan for body codes you need the dealers or compatible scanner.

I believe he has that scanner from when he had a larger shop on the past with a mechanic on site.
Automotive Expert
Ok just make sure it can scan body codes.

Will do thank youthat fuse wouldn't stop it from damaging other parts of the car?Fuse is attached to the positive cable)
Automotive Expert
It could you need to use the right voltage fuse if its higher then this is when components can short out and connectors melt .

No codes came up on the body control module LIN communication error came up on the regular scan
Automotive Expert
Ok that's a communication error most likely it cant communicate with the BCM do to a short. Need to focus on that BCM.

He said he had it unplugged he's going to rescan
Automotive Expert
Ok

He said it's weird when he disconnected and reconnected the fuse almost all of the lights work until you turn on the blinker (right blinker kills right side lights left blinker kills left side lights) then they stopStill no bcm codes
Automotive Expert
Ok but can he get into the BCM?

Clicked on bcm can do a a ton of different tests is there a specific one he should be doing
Automotive Expert
Yes for the lights that are not working.

No codes came up with the lights
Automotive Expert
Ok still sounds like there's an issue internal in the BCM. Try replacing it with the correct fuse do not leave the wrong one in and if there is still an issue something shorted out or melted possibly the BCM itself.
