what is the actual code? P0\*\*? What [engine](/topics-engine-cadillac/) is this or if you can provide a VIN number would be easiest.

The most likely cause for any timing related codes on a 3.6 (i'm assuming thats what engine you have) is stretched/worn [timing chains](/topics-timing-chain/). This is a very common failure on that era of the 3.6 engine. This is also a very in-depth repair, so if you are not familiar with this type of procedure I would recommend finding assistance. If not done properly it can cause severe engine damage.

There is a strong knocking sound coming from the engine. Today my car won't start. Service engine light is on. It keeps turning over
Hi there. When the crankshaft position sensor (https://www.yourmechanic.com/article/symptoms-of-a-bad-or-failing-crankshaft-position-sensor) is damaged or faulty, it will cause intermittent starting issues, misfiring problems, or might cause the vehicle to fail to start entirely.
