Q: Air conditioner not holding refrigerant

asked by on

My air conditioner is not holding refrigerant.

This is a common issue. The A/C system is a sealed system and the refrigerant is pressurized. Refrigerant leaks can be something simple like an O-ring seal, or complex like a compressor leaking. A mechanic, such as one from YourMechanic, will need to recharge the system to find the leak. The use of UV dyes or electronic leak detectors will help pinpoint the trouble area.
