When Micheal arrived to do the initial evaluation of what was needed to repairmy wife's car window he had taken the time to look up the possible problems with the window of my wife's Jaguar on line. With this home work before hand I feel that the initial $70.00 charged for the diagnose was a little extreme ,he did not have to really do anything much but check which was the most common cause for the electric window malfunction and suggest it. That would have skipped the $70.00 diagnostic cost.I had given the description on line so the trip to diagnose may have not been really necessary. So,in my mind that part of the process turn into an precievd over charge. The total cost became about the same as if I had dropped the car to a local Mechanic shop when adding the diagnostic charge of $70.00 additional cost to the final bill. I concede convenience does trump driving the car to an auto mechanic ( particularly when the window would not roll up )but the proposed price saving indicated on my estimate was ultimately not there. Michael did stay in touch every step of the process,so I can give him an A grade there. The window works fine so the work he preformed gives him an A grade also. He did if fact ultimately do an over all assessment of the vehicle and has suggested that the cylinders on 4 and 8 are miss firing. You can feel the miss fire and see the rpm gauge go suddenly down while the car runs.Micheal has suggested that it may be possibly be the spark plugs, boots on the spark plug wires or even spark plug coils. The first suggested attempt to fix the miss fire would be the least expensive (which is smart and shows his practicality) this would be the replacing the spark plugs, the spark plug wires can be inspected at that time too. I will set up an appointment for this suggested process of procedure in elimination to locate the problem.I will review the jobs success afterwards.

Answers to common BMW Bavaria questions

Q: Buying a car
Answered by Jeff
As you may know with any car, a large factor in it's dependability is how well it has been taken care of or maintained in the past. Things like regular services (i.e. oil changes, brake services, tune ups, tire rotations,...
Q: Misfire - 2003 BMW 320i
Answered by Tim
Hi there. Typically when a professional mechanic is trying to diagnose an engine misfire, the first thing they'll do is download any OBD-II error codes (https://www.yourmechanic.com/article/how-to-read-and-understand-check-engine-light-codes-by-jason-unrau) to pinpoint the source of the ignition issue. Without knowing those codes, telling you...
Q: Car turns off at stops
Answered by Mia
Stalling usually indicates that the engine is not getting enough fuel, or that it is getting too much air. If this happens mostly at idle, I would suspect a vacuum leak, idle air control valve, or problems with the VANOS...
Q: My door does not lock or unlock. Would I need to replace a fuse or buy a new key?
Answered by David
I believe the door lock actuator has failed, not a fuse or key. BMW door lock actuators (part electric, part mechanical) have what is essentially a two-stage lock, and can fail and become "double-locked". Sometimes, exercising the "unlock/lock/unlock" cycle multiple...

Trusted by thousands of happy car owners

Tim was great; offered advice instead of just blindly fixing. Also Tim was super friendly and very genuine. Highly recommend!

Yourmechanic.com is a woman's prayered answered. My stress was zero. I didn't have to drop off the car and wait for an outrageous quote from the corner mechanic. I was able to schedule and know the price immediately. I will use yourmechanic.com from now on. If you are in the Las Vegas area. I recommend requesting Scott Franklin. He goes above and beyond customer service.

Paul did a good job fixing my car quickly. He also got a accurate diagnostic of my car's isues.
