Q: Q: vacuum leak

asked by on

Hi,

I recently installed an aftermarket cold air intake and tuned the car. I have had many occurrences of code p0300 and Bama tuning recommended I do a crank relearn which I did.

I also sent BAMA a datalog afterwards and they said I might have a vacuum leak and my car is correcting 10% (and something about fuel?). They said at idle, I'm running lean.. They suggested a smoke test. Since the car is only a little over a year old and I purchased it brand new, does a vacuum leak sound reasonable? Any suggestions on proceeding with a smoke test or other methods of diagnosis? Another mechanic said he thinks the "leak" is due to the plastic tapered tube part of the cold air intake and tightened it up well.

My car has 16500 miles.
My car has a manual transmission.

There are a number of other bearings, belts, and pulleys that may also produce a squealing sound when they are worn, loose or potentially begin to fail. I would suggest having a professional from YourMechanic come to your location to...

Q: Loud cracking noise in the front when turning to the left or to the right, even on stationary.

This sounds like you either have binding sway bar links or arms. Have the sway bar checked and the links checked by putting hand on joint and having someone turn wheel. You will feel the creaking in the joint. If...

Q: vibration/buzzing felt in steering wheel, seat, gas pedal, shifter 50 mph up shifted to neutral with engine off

If you are under factory warranty then by all means get the expert there to drive it. VW warranty does not last very long so I suggest you get the most out of it in the meanwhile. They'll ensure that...
