When I have the AC on and put the car in gear it rattles. Its a 2009 [Camry](/topics-camry/). A/C still works well-there is just the rattle. What could be wrong? Mechanic's Assistant: Where exactly do you think the noise is coming from? And how long has this been going on? Its coming from under the hood and I hear it louder when I'm parked between 2 cars or near a wall. Its been going on for over a year Mechanic's Assistant: Are you fixing your Camry yourself? What have you tried so far? Not fixing it myself. Local neighborhood garage hasn't been able to find the rattle. Mechanic's Assistant: Anything else you want the Mechanic to know before I connect you? The car is a 2009 Camry 4 cylinder LE

I find in most cases it's actually the air compressor making the noise. Even though it's working like it should, sometimes they will make noise. You may also have a belt tensioner causing this, the added pressure of the compressor working will cause this kind of an issue as well. I would have them remove the drive belt and check the pulleys. If you have any follow-up questions, please feel free to ask, it's part of the service. If not, thank you for taking the time to contact us today. I am hopeful you found my information helpful and had a good experience. Please let me know if there is anything else I can do. Thank you.
