I do not have enough information for a diagnosis yet. Is the vehicle acting per the question I asked?

Has the truck ever had the clutch replaced?

No...Never!
Automotive Expert
Wow! Impressive. Well, more than likely the clutch pressure plate and friction plate are worn out and slipping causing your RPMs to raise like that.

Ok..,got it. What about the issue with hesitation, afterwhich I press the clutch and the accelerator pedal and a puff of smoke and a pop sound is emitted from the exhaust?
Automotive Expert
That could more than likely be related to the clutch issue. The hesitation could be connected with clutch slippage. If you are revving the engine excessively, The engine could reach the rev limiter, which could cause the pop and smoke.

Do you have any other concerns or questions to ask?

I forgot to mention it's supercharged!
Automotive Expert
No, you did mention that. Thanks for using justanswer, and Happy Holidays.

Thank you, \*\*\*\*\* \*\*\*\*\* assistance!
