Can't find the deceleration sensor location on a 2008 highlander Mechanic's Assistant: Okay, I'll connect you to the Mechanic to help find that for your Toyota Highlander. Before I do, is there anything else you want him to know? The Yaw rat sensor is under the center console

Automotive Expert
Good Afternoon Let me see if i can find out where that is for you , give me a few minutes to look it up
Automotive Expert
Take a look at this it shows where all of the air bag components are , it says the deceleration sensors are build into a few of the sensors , do you know which one specifically you are looking for ? Or is there an air bag code you want me to look up ?

I am looking for the deceleration sensor which is part of the ABS/VSC system. the codes I got on my analyzer were C1201 and 1336.
Automotive Expert
Ok give me a minute to look these up , I am not able to do phone calls right now , the website automatically offers them

OK no problem , ask them to credit my credit card
Automotive Expert
[https://www.justanswer.com/help/contact-us](//www.justanswer.com/help/contact-us) you have to request that im not able to , but they will do it no problem

the part number for the sensor is 89441A
Automotive Expert
It is an acceleration sensor which is combines with the yaw rate sensor The code is for an acceleration sensor

I have a diagram which shows the sensor somewhere left of the steering wheel and I assumed in the passenger compartment. but I can't find it. The diagram came from parts.toyota.comThe Yaw rate sensor malfunction code is 1336Vsc off, ABS and [engine](/topics-engine-toyota/) light are blinking all the time.
Automotive Expert
that is correct and 1201 says there is an engine control sytem malfunction and it is disabling VSC and trac

what control function is malfunctioning?
Automotive Expert
no other engine light codes ?

no othersfor the 1201 code I replaced the transmission sensors and that fixed the problem on re-test. now the only code is 1336
Automotive Expert
have you replaced the yaw rate sensor ?

but I wanted to find the deceleration sensor so I could replace that as well suggested in 1201 code. The dash and console are all torn apart.
Automotive Expert
there is no deceleration sensor for the vsc , that is an airbag part

correction code 1336
Automotive Expert
That is Zero Point Calibration of Acceleration sensor undone , i'll send you the information for it

OK, well thanks for your help
Automotive Expert
Here , take a look at this

The diagnostic system I have will do zero point calibration re set for me.
Automotive Expert
dont ask why , on the tester display it will show deceleration sensor and it measures the acceleration sensor . An engineer designed that :)

Thanks for the info I will give it a try
Automotive Expert
no problem Good luck
