Q: Timing chain replacement

asked by on

How do I get the timing marks on the sprockets and the chain to line-up before replacing the chain?

My car has 163000 miles.
My car has an automatic transmission.

This vehicle has 3 timing chains and in order to align them up correctly you may need to purchase a repair manual or have the timing chain repair done by a qualified mechanic. These engines typically require special alignment tools and procedures to get the alignment correct. This vehicle has two different 3.6L engines and each may require different repair processes.
